When it comes to your big day the cost seems to keep creeping up and up so here is some tips on how to keep the cost down on your flower arrangements but also make sure that they look stunning and eye catching on the day.
Firstly it is very expensive to get a company to arrange your flowers you need to do them yourself. So get all your friends and family round and follows these steps:

Head to a flower market here you will find a huge selection of flowers all at a very reasonable price, you will be spoilt for choice and will be able to find the colours you are looking for.

Keep your bouquet simple i have seen this used at many wedding now and it looks classy and elegant, try a single flower or perhaps even hand-tied.

Choose your flowers with care and look for ones that will maintain fresh without being in water for a long time.

Take advantage of a florist worker as they will give you free advice on flowers and styles.

Caring for your orchid

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

My favourite plant in my house has to be my orchids i now have 3 in total and i have had them for 2 years and they have lasted so long because i treat them correctly.

Here is some tips on how your orchid can blossom for years to come:

Light is the most important factor if you want your orchid to blossom. The best place to place your orchid is on the windowsill and you want to leave to turn bright green if you notice that the leaves are turning a slight yellow colour then move away from the windowsill to a place that is a bit more shaded.

Do not over or under water your orchid my advice is to spray the orchid once a week onto the roots. You do not want the roots to be soggy as this means you have over watered the orchid.

I hope you find this useful and your orchid has a long happy life!

Flowers for Love

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

When a guy wants to show love the most popular flower that gets picked is a bunch of red or pink roses! When i receive a bunch of roses i find them so romantic and defiantly agree that they are the most passionate flowers to buy your loved one.

Another romantic gesture is to buy flowers that carry a special significant for example the flowers that were used for your wedding or the first ever bunch that you bought on your first date, this will make your partners heart melt. Defiantly a good way to get into the good books!

What do Roses Mean?

What do Roses mean?
With Valentine’s Day approaching all girls hope that they receive roses but what do different coloured roses mean?
Red is obviously the most popular rose for a present. Red roses mean love and passion and are given to a lover.
Yellow roses stand for friendship and cheerfulness; sometimes they are used for bereavements.
Orange means pride; used for a promotion or graduation of some sort.
Pink roses are more romantic without the implications of red roses.
White roses often called ‘bride’s roses’ symbolise light and purity.
Purple roses are often used for anniversaries and are very intimate, meaning everlasting love.

Poinsettias

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Poinsettias are the traditional Christmas plant every home needs as their vivid red leaves are associated with Santa’s coat and a robins breast.

Interesting Fact
The coloured red leaves are not petals.  they surround the base of the tiny flower heads and are designed to attract tiny insects that might otherwise overlook the flowers.

Interesting Fact
Poinsettias day is December 12th. It was declared in honor of the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett whom the plant is named after.

Another popular Christmas plant is Mistletoe and this is especially for the single ladies and gents as it is a tradition to kiss under the mistletoe.

And than there is always the obvious which has to be purchased on Christmas day, the Christmas tree.  This has to be the best bit about Christmas as you can decorate it with lots of decorations and lights…
