Cheap and Cheerful

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Fashion jewellry is huge at the moment and a definite must to have in your closet.  The variety of beads around is fabulous and they help to brighten up all those gloomy dark jumpers and tops you probably have lurking in the back of your wardrobe!

It pays to shop around though.  I was looking for some big chunky pearls in a choker necklace for most high street shops they were at least £15.  Too much for me really as I have a massive collection.  So you can imagine my delight when I found the exact match to what I was looking for in Sainsbury’s for only a fiver!  They look perfect, everyone comments on them and certainly don’t look like I’ve only paid that amount for the.  Supermarket jewelery shopping IS the way forward for me now!

Mothers Day

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Mothers Day is getting bigger and more commercialised than ever.  The cards appear in the shops months before the set date and the bouquets of flowers are getting bigger and more extravagant too.

So,  here are some ideas for spoiling you Mum on her own very special day;

  • Flowers – small bunch of daffs or a lavish bouquet of flowers – depending on your budget.
  • Plant or shrub for the garden
  • Box of Choccies – always goes down well as long as shes not dieting for the summer already!
  • Go out for a meal
  • Stay in and avoid the manic and cook her favorite food
  • Get the family together for the day cause I bet you’ve not been since Christmas!

I bought my mun a purse….a bit different but she’d been looking at it the week before so although not a typical ‘Mothers Day’ gift it was one that was appreciated all the same.

Dying Flowers

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I am rubbish with all flowers and plants whether they are in the garden or in the house – I forget to water them which is not a good thing really is it?

I’ve had a plant in my bathroom recently and have been determined to keep this one alive for longer than a week.  Luckily it doesn’t need that much looking after just a bit of water every now and again – but even that I have forgotten.  Having spent the majority of last week at my boyfriends I went into my bathroom on my return and low and behold my plant was looking a bit sorry for itself and was as dry as a bone!

A little water and attention and it soon perked up again.  But think I’m best with artificial plants from now on and it’s a good job I don’t have a cat as I’d probably forget to feed and water that if I wasn’t at home!

Valentines Day

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Valentines Day is creeping up by the day so it is time to put your hand in your pocket and treat that special someone in your life.

So for all the men out there who want to woo your lady and make them feel extra special you need to start by buying a bunch of flowers. A lady loves a big bunch of flowers on Valentines day and most florists will put together a special bunch for you with all the colours that your lady loves i would recommend going to Interflora as there flowers are beautiful they will be delivered and they last for around 10 days. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on a bunch of flowers then head to Tescos they have a great range of bouquets ready made for £10.00, if you were to take the price tag off them they could easily look like a £20+ bunch.

So guys do not forget February 14th and make sure you do not leave it to late as flowers do sell out quick especially in the supermarkets!

Christmas Door Wreath

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

The first sign of Christmas is the hanging of the Wreath outside of the front door. The most traditional wreath is made up of holly, red berries and a red ribbon and this is the one you are most likely to see on your neighbors front door.

It is a tradition that 2 weeks after thanks giving the wreath goes up than the outdoor lights than the tree and interior decorations go up but this sounds more likely in America as we don’t celebrate Thanks Giving in the UK

These can be bought from most of the places where Christmas tree’s are sold or any florist can make one up for you but if you are feeling creative you can always make one for yourself.
