Christmas Door Wreath

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

The first sign of Christmas is the hanging of the Wreath outside of the front door. The most traditional wreath is made up of holly, red berries and a red ribbon and this is the one you are most likely to see on your neighbors front door.

It is a tradition that 2 weeks after thanks giving the wreath goes up than the outdoor lights than the tree and interior decorations go up but this sounds more likely in America as we don’t celebrate Thanks Giving in the UK

These can be bought from most of the places where Christmas tree’s are sold or any florist can make one up for you but if you are feeling creative you can always make one for yourself.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Marc Jacobs have got some amazing jewellery out at the moment and on net a porter i have seen a skull pendant necklace which is so unusual and it says to wear with a little black dress and some ankle boots with a boyfriend blazer to funk up an outfit.

It is black and white on a silver tone circle link necklace and costs only £150 which i think is pretty good for Marc Jacobs.

for a cheaper alternative Marc by Marc Jacobs do a zip pull pendant watch which is on a gold plated stainless steel chain and costs £115.

Maleria No More Ring

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Stephen Webster’s Maleria No More Mosquito Ring as seen on Victoria Beckham is now for sale on Asos.com for £50.00 but this is out of stock alredy proving that it is going to be popular and is for a good cause.

All the sales of this ring will be going to Maleria No More charity.

I personally love the ring and it is adjustable and with all costume jewellery you are supposed to avoid contact with liquids and perfume to keep the condition good.

I had an email from Asos saying they were having another delivery on 05th December and this order has sold out already so if you can get your hands on on try and get it.

Rock Chick Jewellery

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Rock Chick Jewellery is a must have for the festive period and Asos.com have a great range for you to choose from and most are at a reasonable price.

The jewellery can be teamed with a little black dress, jeans and a t’shirt or even legins and a jumper so there is no excuse that you have nothing to wear it with.

I particulary love the rings as they are big and chunky and really stand out.

Other great shops to purchse them from are Topshop, River Island, Mikey, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and many more high street and online stores.

Poinsettias

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Poinsettias are the traditional Christmas plant every home needs as their vivid red leaves are associated with Santa’s coat and a robins breast.

Interesting Fact
The coloured red leaves are not petals.  they surround the base of the tiny flower heads and are designed to attract tiny insects that might otherwise overlook the flowers.

Interesting Fact
Poinsettias day is December 12th. It was declared in honor of the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett whom the plant is named after.

Another popular Christmas plant is Mistletoe and this is especially for the single ladies and gents as it is a tradition to kiss under the mistletoe.

And than there is always the obvious which has to be purchased on Christmas day, the Christmas tree.  This has to be the best bit about Christmas as you can decorate it with lots of decorations and lights…

A perfect Christmas gift!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

As I mentioned, Christmas is really only just around the corner and it’s not long till we will be sat around the Christmas tree opening our prezzies.

For me, giving someone a gift that they want and seeing their face light up when they open it is the highlight of the day and what can be better than a stunning piece of jewelery.

A safe bet is a bracelet or necklace, with a ring you would have to find out their size before hand which can often prove difficult. You can never go wrong with neutral colors , beads and pearls are a great look or you could go for a charm bracelet if you want to be more personal.

Buying your tree

  • Make sure the center pole is not visible (the bushier the better)
  • Check the height of your tree will enable your tree topper (angel) to sit on without touching the ceiling
  • Shake your tree to check it is fresh

Keeping your tree alive

  • Keep away from radiators
  • strong and sturdy Christmas tree stand
  • use a stand that holds at least 1 gallon of water
